12th December 2022
In the context of Action 2 of Sub-Measures 16.1 – 16.2 “Establishment and operation of Operational Groups of the European Innovation Partnership for the productivity and sustainability of agriculture” of national and transnational scope and 16.1 - 16.5 “Cooperation for environmental projects, environmental practices and actions for climate change » of regional and national scope of the Rural Development Program (RDP) 2014 - 2020" the Stevia-PRO project was approved with project code Μ16ΣΥΝ2-00323. The project has a duration of 24 months and the start of the project took place on 29/11/2022.

The aim of this investment project is to identify suitable stevia plants with desirable characteristics in order to propagate them rudely by creating mother plantations and to integrate smart farming techniques into the daily practice of stevia producers. On this basis, the adoption of high technology will contribute decisively to the elimination of problems during the production of stevia by installing weather stations and sensors for the continuous monitoring of weather parameters, with soil pH and electrical conductivity measurements and mapping with the use of GIS, by developing a protocol for quality characteristics of stevia, integrating pest and disease prediction models for early notification of growers, evaluating yields in areas and creating maps, and training staff to handle the specialist equipment and the correct application of the methodology.

Operational Group members:
