Opening for a Business Manager of the Krinos Olive Center at Perrotis College
 
Perrotis College invites applicants for the Business Manager position to support the Krinos Olive Center at Perrotis College. The Krinos Olive Center building on the tradition of olive cultivation at the American Farm Scool and its place in the academic and practical training aspects of education at all levels, was established in 2013 to address the needs and promote the success of the olive and olive oil production sector in Greece. The Center aims to establish a forum of olive growers interested on new and sustainable production methods, consumers, researchers, students and business sector people as well as to provide consulting services in entrepreneurship and export marketing to Greek olive producers and businesses.
 
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the current olive sector market in Greece and its needs
  • Explore and identify potential new clients
  • Offer consultancy services on topics related to the optimization of cultivation practices as well as processing of olive oil and table olives and beneficial use of by-products
  • Manage, organize paperwork and administrative records
  • Disseminate the activities, goals, aims of the KOC
  • Submit proposals for research (in collaboration with Perrotis College faculty and the KOC Director)
  • Promote, organize and participate in events (workshops, conferences)
  • Establish collaborations with the agro food industry (olive sector) for funding purposes
  • Manage the olive production of the Perrotis College olive grove and olive oil extraction
  • Attract customers for olive analyses and consultancy (olive oil, sensory analyses, etc.)
  • Support Perrotis College faculty in olive/oil related areas
  • Support related courses in Perrotis College and other AFS educational departments (invited lecturer in BSc and MSc level)
 
Required Qualifications
  •  B.Sc. Degree in agriculture related studies
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.Sc. Degree in agriculture related fields
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Position Description and Responsibilities:

Adjunct Lecturer

The successful applicant will serve as part-time lecturer during the fall 2021 and/or spring 2022. He/she will teach one course per semester requiring 3-4 contact hours and 1 office hour per week primarily associated with the International Business program and will be encouraged to participate in PerrotisCollege sponsored research and supervise student research projects. 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Ph.D. degree related to Agricultural or Agribusiness/Food Management and Marketing, Agricultural and Applied Economics, Consumer Behavior or related fields
  • Proficiency level of spoken and written English (teaching will take place in English)
  • Teaching experience at a university level

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to design and lead research projects connected to his/her subject area
  • Documented industrial experience
  • Strong motivation and willingness to contribute to the department needs
  • Studies or work experience in the USA

Laboratory Technician Opening at Perrotis College
B.Sc. Program in Environmental Science

Full-time Laboratory Technician position - Description and Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will serve as a laboratory technician to assist with the management and operation of the Perrotis College laboratories serving the Environmental Science program. He/she will also be expected to provide assistance to Perrotis College faculty in teaching laboratory sessions and assist in research activities. Successful applicants must have experience documenting their ability to use laboratory instruments/equipment and perform a variety of laboratory procedures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
  • Experience in laboratory procedures and in maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (all Perrotis College teaching is done in English)

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • M.Sc. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Experience with analytical instruments, including ICP-MS and Elemental analyzer (Dumas)
  • Documented work experience in analytical laboratories
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Time management and record keeping skills
  • Willingness to learn the operation of new instruments/equipment and perform field work

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the management of Perrotis College Laboratories
  • Maintain laboratory and field equipment
  • Operate analytical instruments, standard laboratory and field equipment
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures
  • Order and maintain stock inventory of laboratory chemicals, consumables and resources
    • Maintain safety regulations and procedures

Position Descriptions and Responsibilities

1. Part-time faculty position (50% appointment with the potential to be converted to a full-time position)

The successful applicant will serve as a part-time faculty to assist in the organization of the new Environmental Science program and teach two courses per semester during the fall 2021 and spring 2022. He/she will also be expected to participate in Perrotis College sponsored research and supervise student research projects.

  • Environmental Chemistry

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related fields.
