Approval of project METRO 16
27th March 2023
The Digi-Meat project with project code Μ16ΣΥΝ2-00023 and business plan title "Utilization of technology in the creation of added value to the meat produced by the rare Greek Brachyhorn Tribe" was approved and is being implemented in the context of Action 2 of Sub-Measures 16.1 - 16.2 "Establishment and operation of Operational Groups of the European Innovation Partnership for the productivity and sustainability of agriculture" of the Rural Development Program (RDP) 2014 - 2020. The project lasts 24 months.

Digi-Meat's goals are:
  • The exploitation of the indigenous tribes that are an integral cultural capital for the region and a powerful source of income for the mountainous regions
  • Leveraging internationally innovative b2b web applications to connect local farmers with specialty food markets, and supply the latter with high added value, local identity and limited supply (free-range meats)
  • Through digital technologies related to herd management and traceability, it aims to integrate indigenous meat into the gastronomic identity of Xanthi and promote it in the gourmet restaurants of Athens and Thessaloniki.
The project is implemented by the coordinator of the Innovation and Impact HUB project of the American Farm School in collaboration with Green Projects, Agromet, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, ENA Development Consultants, Meat Company, Mykis Livestock Cooperative and the livestock farmers Avraam David, Ioannis Kitsoukakis, Kampour Betioul and Mola Ali Fatme.
