The Boutaris Educational and Demonstration Vineyard at the American Farm School was planted in 1992 through a gift by Yiannis Boutaris in the memory of his late father, Stelios Boutaris. The vineyard was re-planted in 2009 and occupies 6 acres.

Varieties of grapes under cultivation include: Agioritiki, Xinomavro, Vidiano, Plito, Zakinthino, Mavrodafni, Robola, Liatiko, Syrah, Grenache Rouge and Soultanina. With the exception of Soultanina, which is a table wine, all of the above are wine grapes.

The vineyard is cultivated through an integrated management system and its performance does not exceed 1000 Kg/acre. Experimental work in cooperation with other educational institutions is ongoing.

Through vinification, the following are produced at the AFS winery:
  • Approximately 3000 bottles "Xinomavro", a local wine of the famous Macedonian variety.
  • Approximately 1000 bottles of the traditional "Retsina", a white or rose resonated wine.
  • About 200 bottles of sweet wine from sun dried grapes
  • Tsipouro, a pomace (residue of the wine press) brandy
Greek traditional sweets from grapes, wine vinegars, raisins and grapes live are also produced. All vineyard products are produced at the AFS farm and are available at the Campus Store and other selected retailers.
