5th October 2020

From 24/8 to 4/9, at the premises of the American Farm School, 200 children aged 7-12 from all over Thessaloniki were taught in a simple and understandable way, through games and activities, the basic concepts of #SignedbyNature for sustainable development and meat production.

The original training workshop on "Sheep and Goat Breeding, a Choice for Sustainable Breeding and Healthy Eating", designed with the valuable support of the Strategic Project Management Office of the American Farm School used creative ways to teach in a simple manner complex terms such as sustainable development. sustainability and extensive livestock.

As Mr. Nikos Kyriakidis, Head of experiential education of children and adults of SPMO, explains, the children showed genuine interest, because until now there was nothing similar.

"Usually in similar programs the priority is cow and milk. So, for the first time, the children came in contact with sheep and goat farming "

"Both children and animators stood on the variety of issues around goat breeding, ie textiles, nutrition, tradition, environment, there are so many issues that arise," said Mr. Kyriakidis, who emphasizes the educational specificity of topics. "It fits in with the new educational approach, which treats issues as systems, as wholes. We talked about sustainability, about tradition, about linguistic references. It was something that excited teachers and children "
