First on our list of experiments was to observe and record what happens to objects of different weight and density when put into water! We used a straw, a plastic spoon, a coin, a toothpick and a crayon.

Then, we asked our students which of these objects would float and which would sink.Their answers in their majority were right, guessing almost  immediately that the smallest and lightest objects would float. The spoon however divided opinions among our scientists because the size was misleading. After conducting the experiment we realised that the weight and density of the plastic spoon were very different to that of the coin and that was the reason it didn't sink!!!

What a great start to our new unit... next up gravity.... Don't miss it!
