Mrs. Loretta Constantinides and Mr. Constantinos Constantinides, wife and son of late Honorary Trustee Stavros Constantinides, were presented with a resolutionvoted by the Board of Trustees in his memory, during their recent visit with President Dr. Panos Kanellis. The resolution honors Stavros Constantinides’ lifetime of extraordinary and extensive contributions, providing leadership, vision and wisdom and lasting benefit to the American Farm School community and expresses the Board’s deepest admiration and gratitude for his life and memory.
In accepting the resolution Mrs. Constantinides told Dr. Kanellis “I am deeply honored to accept this resolution. The School was very important to Stavros. He always admired its mission and contribution to agriculture in Greece. The School has now moved to a more sophisticated way of contributing to the national economy through Perrotis College, which was developed through a lovely donation by Aliki Perroti, to create graduates that would be leaders in the agro-food sector. This School, in my conscious, is very much related to Stavros and I accept this on his behalf.”
In his turn, Mr. Constantinos Constantinides said “I am very honored by the recognition of the Board in the memory of my father and also to Loretta. The School has been a big part of our family and the soul and energy of my father. I am grateful that the Board recognized it and really happy because his involvement was much more than giving money or coming to meetings. Stavros felt deeply about the mission of the School and the impact it has and will continue to have in Greece. This is something he conveyed to all of us. We all feel close to the School and hopefully we will be able continue to some degree what he has done.”
Dr. Kanellis also presented Mrs. Loretta Constantinides with a symbolic gift signifying the Board’s decision to nominate her as an Honorary Trustee. “I am deeply moved by the Board’s recognition to the contribution Loretta has made to the School all these years. While my father was actively involved, Loretta spent a lot of time and energy developing friendships and building long lasting relationships. She fully supported Stavros in his position and this is a great honor for her” said Mr. Constantinos Constantinides of this gesture. Over the years, besides supporting Stavros in his commitment to the School, Loretta has led successful fundraising campaigns for the School’s educational programs, was involved in the Group of Student Services activities and also participated in the organization of events for the centennial.
