The American Farm School, the Region of Central Macedonia, Wine of Northern Greece, the Consulate General of Germany in Thessaloniki and the Synergia Association were the co-organizers of a successful event for wine marketing on campus. The event was held on June 15 with the participation of more than 120 wine producers, oenologists and representatives of public and private organizations.
Mr. Walter Stechel, Consul General of Germany in Thessaloniki, Mrs. Gerakina Bissbina, Deputy Chief of Agriculture of the Region of Central Macedonia, Mr. Stelios Boutaris, President of the Union of Wine Producers "Wines of Northern Greece", Dr. Philippos Papadopoulos, Director of the AFS Strategic Project Management Office and Mr. Stavros Tsourokidis, President of the Synergia Association, welcomed the participants.
Mr. Tom Drieseberg, representative of the Association of German Distinguished VDPs, talked about VDPs experience in developing a common quality and marketing strategy. Professor Dr. Evelyn Dimkou, from Geisenheim University of Oenology, highlighted the training opportunities offered by the University to vine growers and wine producers. Professor Dr. Gergely Szolnoki, from Geisenheim University, talked about wine marketing in Germany and focused on Greek wines, while sommelier Antonios Aschetis explained how Greek wines can find their way into the gastronomy of Germany.
The workshop ended with Mr. Marc Oliver Heilos and Mrs. Renate Fleischer, senior executives of Weinkeller, who reported on their experiences in BASF's wine trade all over the world. They expressed their enthusiasm for the amazing wines of Greece as well as their intention to support the promotion of selected wines in Germany.
