The American Farm School Dairy is a training center for the demonstration and instruction in animal reproduction, feeding, housing, veterinary care and milking procedures. The Holstein herd is rated among the top 12% in the world. There are 120 milking cows and approximately 80 heifers and bulls. Production per cow averages 9,340 kg per milking period (305 days). For more than three decades, continuous genetic improvement to the herd has been done through artificial insemination and embryo transfer. The Dairy sells its high standard bulls to farmers throughout Greece who use natural insemination. All animal feed is tested internally and by independent laboratories and is certified annually by the Greenpeace “Green Rating” indicating the feed is 100% free of GMOs.
The American Farm School Dairy is a member of the International Dairy Federation (www.fil-idf.org).
