Farm School as Culinary Destination
8th November 2016

James Beard award-winning chef Ana Sortun, of famed Boston restaurants Oleana, Sofra and Sarma, conducted a demonstration cooking class on campus during her visit to AFS this November with a group of 50 Americans as part of a culinary and cultural tour of Greece.  The American Farm School was selected by prestigious trip organizers Oldways, whose mission is to preserve and promote traditional foods in ways that are “good for people and food for the planet” in recognition of the School’s own educational mission rooted in teaching students to be stewards of the land.

Participants also enjoyed olive oil tasting in the campus’ Krinos Olive Center and sampling the School’s own
tsipouro (pomace brandy) in the campus winery made from grapes cultivated in the School’s vineyard.  Oldways President Sara Baer-Sinnott described the visit to AFS as “inspirational.”
